The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) has released an important Advisory Opinion that has direct implications for home care providers—particularly those utilizing family caregiver service model. Reference link to the OIG website
This webinar will break down the OIG’s recent opinion addressing caregiver sign-on bonuses and why, in certain circumstances, these incentives may raise serious concerns under the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and the Beneficiary Inducements Civil Monetary Penalty law.
This session will translate the legal findings into clear, practical guidance, providing insight into what triggered OIG’s concerns, how publicly advertised or targeted bonus programs can create compliance risk, and what steps providers should take now to reassess recruitment strategies and protect their organizations.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the OIG Advisory Opinion
- Identify Compliance Risks
- Distinguish Permissible vs. Problematic Bonus Structures
- Assess Your Agency’s Current Practices
- Implement Risk-Mitigation Strategies
